March Break is Fast Approaching!

08 Mar

It’s the time of year again when children rejoice that they are about to get a full week off of school.  For parents, they are torn – either they have committed to taking the week off and hopefully have some awesome plans that might include coming up to the cottage for a week.  Or, they are continuing their regular routine with the added bonus of finding something or somewhere for the kids to spend their week.

The County of Haliburton happens to have tons of things to do for March Break so I’m going to take the time to highlight just a few!

As always, in the winter months we have great outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, alpine and cross country skiing, ice fishing & ice skating but you already know all of that.  Let’s talk about some other options.

Two local facilities are offering workshops for children over March break to explore their crafty and creative sides.  The Art Hive found online at and the Minden Cultural Centre’s Culture Club found online at are 2 such places.

The Maple Lake Artisans Collective offers unique creative arts workshops at The Art Hive for children, youth and adults throughout the year. Our Summer line-up covers many media including block-printing, painting, jewelry, clay, photography, sculpture, silkscreening, paper-making, fashion accessories and so much more!  Click this link for what’s being offered for March Break

The Culture Club is programming for children between the ages of 6 and 13.  Programs generally run through March Break and over the summer months.  These day long programs have the kids moving through each section of the Cultural Centre participating in creative and imaginative activities that relate to a theme. For more specifics on what is offered here please click on this link
